Bangladesh: Salaries of Prime Minister and President to Increase

New Amendment Bill Raises Compensation

According to the Prime Minister's Remuneration and Privilege Amendment Bill 2016, the monthly salary of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh will increase significantly.

Currently, the Prime Minister receives a monthly salary of Tk 115000. However, under the new bill, this will increase to Tk 120000 per month. The President's monthly salary will also increase, from its current level of Tk 100000 to Tk 120000.

The bill has been passed by the Bangladesh Parliament and is expected to come into effect soon. The Prime Minister and President will both receive a significant increase in their annual income as a result of the new bill.

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh is the head of government and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The position is currently held by Sheikh Hasina, who has been Prime Minister since 2009. The President of Bangladesh is the head of state and is responsible for appointing the Prime Minister and other government officials.

The new bill is expected to increase the salaries of the Prime Minister and President by around 10%. The bill has been welcomed by some, who argue that the Prime Minister and President deserve a higher salary. However, others have criticized the bill, arguing that it will increase the gap between the rich and the poor.
